China Looks Increasingly Towards Renewables

The Offshore Wind China 2011 Conference and Exhibition is scheduled to be held at Shanghai New International Expo Centre on 15-17 June.

The event is Asia's largest renewable wind-power event.

The Offshore Wind China 2011 Conference and Exhibition is being organized by the Chinese Renewable Energy Industries Association, Chinese Renewable Energy Industries Committee and Shanghai International Exhibition Co., Ltd., PRNewswire reported.

In the wake of the 11 March Fukushima nuclear capacity interest in alternative energy has surged and the organizers of the Offshore Wind China 2011 Conference and Exhibition now expect number of attendees to approach 800.

More than 100 countries, primarily in Europe, Asia and North America, have begun wind power development. The United Kingdom is at the forefront of adopting offshore wind power and recently reported newly added 306 megawatts of wind power installed capacity, bringing its combined capacity to 894MW.

For interested Western investors attending the conference, Chinese companies attending the exhibition include Sinovel Wind Group, Shanghai Electric, China Guodian United Power Technology Company, HE-GE Wind Energy (Jiangsu), CSIC (Chongqing) Haizhuang Windpower Equipment, Xiangtan Electric Manufacturing Group and Shandong Changxing GroupZhejiang Windey and Mingyang Electric.
