Following a series of terrorist attacks in Turkey's key cities in recent months, two suicide bombers targeted Istanbul's international airport late on Tuesday, killing at least 10 people and wounding at least 20 others.
Details remain unclear, with various officials recounting varying scenarios to media outlets.
According to Reuters, citing an official, two suicide bombers detonated their explosives at the international terminal of Istanbul Ataturk Airport at the receiving end of the security checkpoint X-ray line. There are two security checkpoints at the Istanbul airport-one to enter the terminal building and one at the departure gate.
Statements cited by Turkish Justice Minister Bekir Bozdag noted that one terrorist opened fire on a crowd in the international terminal and blew himself up when police returned fire.
The terminals have now been sealed off and no flights are taking off or landing at this time.

This is the latest in a series of recent attacks in Istanbul and the Turkish capital, Ankara.
In the first week of June, 12 people, including seven Turkish officers, were killed in a bombing that targeted a police car in the central district of Istanbul.
Security forces have been on high alert in Turkey since last month, after a bomb blast injured four people in the capital city.
Two other attacks, claimed by the PKK or affiliated groups, occurred in Ankara.
