In one of the more unexpected visits to take place to the penthouse at the Trump Tower on Wednesday, Leonardo DiCaprio and the head of his foundation met with President-elect Donald Trump to discuss how jobs centered on preserving the environment can boost the economy.
In a statement to The Associated Press, Terry Tamminen, the CEO of the Leonardo DiCaprio Foundation, confirmed the meeting at Trump Tower in New York City. Tamminen said the pair gave a presentation to Trump, daughter Ivanka, and other members of Trump's team on how focusing on renewable, clean energy could create millions of jobs.
"Today, we presented the president-elect and his advisors with a framework - which LDF developed in consultation with leading voices in the fields of economics and environmentalism - that details how to unleash a major economic revival across the United States that is centered on investments in sustainable infrastructure," Tamminen said. "Our conversation focused on how to create millions of secure, American jobs in the construction and operation of commercial and residential clean, renewable energy generation."
The Oscar-winning actor has been a strong advocate of fighting climate change and preserving wildlife, and his recent documentary, Before the Flood, addresses the peril that the world faces because of climate change. He has also been repeatedly accused of hypocrisy by his critics for not practicing what he preaches, such as criss-crossing the globe in high carbon footprint private jets. According to AP, DiCaprio previously met with Ivanka Trump and presented her with a copy of the film. The meeting with Trump's team lasted for about 90 minutes. The actor also gave the president-elect a copy of the documentary, and Trump promised to watch it, according to a person who was familiar with the meeting but not authorized to speak publicly.
Tamminen, who was secretary of California's Environmental Protection Agency under former Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger, said Trump was receptive and suggested they meet again next month.
"We look forward to continuing the conversation with the incoming administration as we work to stop the dangerous march of climate change, while putting millions of people to work at the same time," said Tamminen.
Despite the lip service, we doubt much if anything will come out of the meeting, which took place hours after word got out Wednesday that Oklahoma Attorney General Scott Pruitt, who refuses to accept "climate-change", and whose policies have helped fossil fuel companies, is expected to be announced as Trump's pick to lead the Environmental Protection Agency.
It was unclear if DiCaprio flew in and out of his meeting with Trump to discuss how to make the environment great again, on his private jet.

GOOD FOR HIM. I held my nose to vote for him, but am starting to like him.
DRILL BABY DRILL
Politician and actor. What a great deal of climate expertise they bring to the table? LOL:)
Mr. President, don't waste your time please, and send Al Gore and LEO to where they belong - wanna be junk scientists.
Drill baby drill.
Is it about the leprechauns?!
What does "Green Jobs" really mean?
Seriously. Are the Walmart's roofs with solar panels any green in color?
Carbon tax or cap and trade to protect the environment, what a joke. It has only created an energy poor population in Europe and Australia tried it for two years and threw it out. EVERYTHING sky rocketed in price especially food and the cost of electricity. I am pretty sure Trump will see through the silliness of DiCaprio stupidity.
The Green movement has been around and trying to make changes for many years, unfortunately money hungry men have been around a lot longer. Man is destroying the very planet that sustains us, for the all mighty dollar.
What will man do when it is so hot that you can not go outside during the day because of the heat; When man can no longer breath without bottled oxygen, because there are no trees left to provide that for us or when most of our animals species die off because of lack of food and/or habitat.
Most of the comments on this page has confirmed what I always say: " Man does not give a crap about the Earth because none of us will be here in 100 years to see or live through the damage created by the lust and greed that man has for money now". None of us my be here in 100 years but your children's children will be and this is the Earth you want to leave for them.
Man does nothing but rape, pillage and plunder this Earth all for the mighty dollar. Leonardo DiCaprio should know that "Money loving Trump will do nothing about Global Warming except invest in the companies that cause the damage for his "big" share of the money pie.
Does anyone in this comment section even pay attention to the amount of damage that has been done to this Earth by man? Does anyone even care?
I have just read some of the most uneducated comments that I have ever read in any comment section I have posted in.
The only problem that any of you have with him, that I can see, is your jealousy of him. Why else would anyone slam someone else so hard for trying to make a positive difference in the environment that we all live in. I think I know ... It is because none of you really give a crap about the Earth or any living thing on it.
Vaclav Klause once called the greenies the new look of communism. He knew what communism was all about.
The greenies are now known as watermelons around the World. Green on the outside and commie red on the inside. Also, not very educated. They would have made Lenin and Stalin proud.
So this guy, Di Caprio, makes millions because the bored rubes and pecker woods have nothing better or more intelligent to do then shell out what little money they have for another Hollywood crapola movie.
Only in America. A dying country.
-smaller families
-electric cars
-live in the city.
-use green energy
-...
Keep it up DiCaprio.
So why is CO2 pushed as causing climate change, even from very reputable scientists? There are 3 reasons you hear CO2 causes climate change or global warming. #1 (The evil reason) CO2 is one carbon molecule and 2 oxygen molecules. Everything on this planet uses it, or interacts with it in some way or another. When you control CO2, you control everything. #2 (Not so evil) It is the big lie, so people change their ways. Reputable scientists know that people do not react to anything but crisis. Oil will run out someday, and if we have not changed our ways, or at least come up with alternatives, we are hosed. This is why reputable scientists support it, because you can't fund change, when people aren't spending money on it. #3 (Affect from #1 and #2) If you are a scientist, you are way less likely to get funded from the #1 or #2 proponents, unless you are on the climate change boat. Don't believe me, investigate all of this yourself from facts. Do not look at any site that has an agenda. Be better. Don't ever regurgitate anything without doing the research yourself. You only exacerbate the problem. There are several more reasons why CO2 cannot be the cause, but this should get your investigation going.
